Dil To Bacha Hai Jee - review

A story tries tracing life of 3 people. Disturbed bank officer Naren (Ajay Devgn) filing divorce, playboy Abhay (Emraaan Hashmi) who believes in ‘sao aur sone do’, idealistic lover Milind (Omi Vaidya – 3 idots fame) who writes 'dard bhari shayrees' which cause 'sir dard' and there encounters with women. It starts on a impressive note with stretches, hilarious voice-over by Paresh Rawal and rest you have to watch yourself…
On the whole, a nice attempt by Madhur Bhandarkar and a track change from contemporary, hard hitting movies to light, real life comedy…

Black Swan - review

Switch off your sensible side as well as don’t think that you are going to watch a ballet documentary. You will understand the movie only if you let the main character get into you, makes you feel impulsive, emotional and paranoid.
Nina (Natalie Portman) is a young dancer with the Ballet who is preparing for a production of Swan Lake. Witnessing the intensifying pressure on her is like watching the wings being slowly crumpled on a butterfly. This, and the filming of Nina’s self-harm in pursuit of perfection, made me feel steadily queasy rather than gripped.
Watch: DVD (if you are a typical bollywood fan like me, then this movie is not for you)

The King’s Speech - review

An English period drama set in the 1920-30’s, It’s about a man burdened with a near impossible task and mounting responsibilities, who has to overcome his demons and actually achieve something to be proud of. It’s an unusual portrait of a king, his compelling story of personal triumph and relationship with his Australian speech therapist. A good watch with a few history lessons.

Dhobi Ghat - review

It’s a story of a love square with a missing link. Movie showcases a piece of life of Arun, Munna, Shai, Yasmin, Mumbai and each character is intertwined in one others life. Though its nicely cinematographed, each character having a very strong screen presence and no nonsense bollywood masala but still found it baffling and boring… was wondering what’s happening in the movie…

Yamla Pagla Deewana - review

To precisely say, it’s like an old wine in new bottle. It’s powered by Deol family, drama, emotion, punch and light comedy and delivers what it promised. Songs except ‘Charha De Rang’ and romantic sequences are boring. You can watch the movie for old charm of Dharmendra, Sunny’s fight and  Kulraj Randhawa's beauty.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars (but it’s an entertainer)

The Next Three Days - review

Unlike many regular thrillers, there is no comedy or cynicism to counterweight the absurdity, but was quite exciting. It has emotional and intense story line with applaudable performance by Russell Crowe and Elizabeth Banks. Some areas were over stretched but worth a watch...

No One Killed Jessica - review

tu janta nahi hai  kaun hu... very well shown. Movie shows the real picture of contemporary India. Our tolerance towards corruption (Sab koi khaata hai , Kisliye, mein fark hai… ), power divide between common / privileged (mujhe ek crore nahi chaiyea per ek goli bhi nahi chaiyea...) and the influencing  power enjoyed by media which if used in correct manner can make a huge difference.
On the whole a very well scripted movie showing facts and fiction, still managing to keep the interest in spite of being inspired from real life stories.

The Tourist - review

Slow in the beginning but picks up pace after some time. Average story and emotion less romance between Johnny Deep and Angelina Jolie.
